Everyday superlatives seem inadequate to describe this place. Beauty just oozes from every direction, and every few steps, it seems, I find myself unfolding the tripod for another photograph. Driving a few miles out of Banff, towards Two Jack Lake, we encounter a herd of road-licking big horn sheep. Apparently, they cruise this highway for the salt that is embedded in it. |

Vermillion lakes are a string of three lakes just west of Banff. Beaver ponds abound, and it is a fine place for a sunrise photograph.
This was taken shortly after sunrise at the westernmost lake, and has become my favorite photograph of our vacation. |
