I was very fortunate to have my camera set up on this early fall morning as I was watching a Blue Heron stalking his breakfast near this beachfront house. The heron had spent the previious day circling the house, sometimes coming quite close. I wanted to get a detailed images, so I chose a 400mm Sigma APO for my Nikon. I did not use a tripod, but sat on the deck, using a wooden bench to support the camera. This sequence of four shots was taken over about 3 to 5 seconds. The heron was certainly aware of me, and flew away as soon as he had his meal. |
