Nanci Griffith |
Seeing Nanci Griffith perform is like watching the clouds roll by in one of those compressed-time videos: You can't quite tell what is coming, but the unfolding is just so engrossing. Her music washed over and through a willing audience.
Nanci appeared with the Blue Moon Orchestra, who she has been with for about 10 years. They work well together, and their individual styles compliment one another nicely. |

Perhaps some knowledgable visitor, maybe a NanciNetter, can tell us the story behind the LBJ button Nanci wears. It is a complete mystery to me why anyone would want to be seen in public with that.
James Hooker played, for a while, with The Amazing Rhythm Aces, one of my favorites. |

Nanci has just released a CD, Other Voices, Too, a sequel to Other Voices, Other Rooms. She has, on both of these albums, paid tribute to those individuals who have shaped her musical style. Many of those artists perform with Nanci on this album.

Lee Satterfield |
Nanci said that Lee Satterfield can play anything with strings. Lee also contributed harmony vocals that blended very well with Nanci's unique voice.

Nanci's performance closed the festival on Saturday evening. I was sunburned, tired, and content.
