Jerry Jeff Walker says that they don't call Jack Elliot "Ramblin'" for nothing. Just what it is, I don't know, but there were a lot of fans in this audience who were very happy to see him this weekend.

I count myself as one of them, and for the past few weeks have been spending a lot of time with his new CD, Friends of Mine that he released in March.

The venue for this festival is spectacular. It is a hillside that has been terraced for comfortable seating. There is good line-of-sight viewing from almost every spot. A few shade trees line the periphery. Behind the stage is a working vinyard, and beyond that, on the other side of a small valley a hillside covered with trees. At any time, a few hawks can be seen floating on the air currents above us.

Our local PBS radio station, KRCB (91.1), broadcast the concert, and recorded much of it. They continue to play songs from this concert every Saturday afternoon on Our Roots are Showing.

For local folk music aficionados, this is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Our Roots are Showing hosts Robin Pressman, Chris Olsen, and Steve DeLapp have a great sense of the folk scene, and broadcast some great music.
