Notes for John Motley MOREHEAD:

He attended schools of Charlotte North Carolina, the Bingham Military
School, and the University of North Carolina, from which latter he
received the degree of bachelor of arts in 1886. To this he added a
regular course in the Bryant and Stratton Business College at Balitmore.
For two years he was a clerk in the Commercial National Bank of
Charlotte, and for two more years in the leaf tobacco business in Durham,
that State. His father being a partner in the J. Turner Morehead &
Company firm at Spray, North Carolina, he removed there in 1894. He has
been actively identified with the textile manufactureres of the state
ever since, both in cotton and woolens.
